Hi There!

Karen Profile 2017

Making soap and natural skin care products is a labor of love.  It all started when we first moved to Fallbrook, California, a small town in San Diego County, in 2005.  So many beautiful local farms, my crafting curiosity was in high gear.  I always wanted to learn more about making luscious, natural soap.  Now, I am having so much fun not only making the products, but selling them at local farmers markets and artisan craft fairs.  I really enjoy meeting all of you that come by and say hello.

I started this website as a cooking and gardening blog, but now it’s evolved into mostly a shop for online sales of soap, soap related products and mostly natural home care products.

In addition to almost anything crafting, I love to cook.  I follow traditional recipes and conjure up some originals as well.  I am an “experimental” gardener 👩🏻‍🌾 and a “wanna-be” farmer.

I was born in Chicago but I grew up on Los Angeles.  When I was younger, I loved the chaos of the city.  I spent all of my adult life working inside an office building.  When I started working from home In 2005, my husband and I decided to move away and live the “country life”.  And so, the adventures began.  I’ve learned things I tell you….dirty things that happen in the country, and I love it.  Since then I’ve helped birth goats, milk them too.  I keep chickens, wrangle a rattlesnake or two every year, catch and release rogue scorpions I find wandering in my house.   I hunt gophers like a wilderness trapper in Alaska.

This is a long way from the little kid who was so afraid of a few little farm animals when I visited my relatives in rural Illinois.

I have a habit of starting hobbies and projects I know little about and learn as I go. However, it worked well for me when I grew my first 700-pound giant pumpkin! 🎃 Don’t even get me started on pumpkins!

My favorite picture of all time! From the infamous Smashing Pumpkins Party.
It was a very good year for giant pumpkins. Only 3 of five shown. (It’s hard to crowd pumpkins in for a good group pic!)

I hope you enjoy this website and try some of our products.  If you do, I’d love to know what you think!

All my best to you,

Karen
