Salty Bites And Delicious Cocktails Go Together Like Blue Cheese and Sage!

File this one in the Darn-Delicious section of your recipe files.  I know blue cheese isn’t for everyone, and it’s not really a beauty queen either, but nothing goes better with a glass of wine or a beer than this classic combination, flatbread with blue cheese and sage.  You’ll have to try it and let me know what you think.  If you’re like me, you like to make an impression with homemade delights when your friends come over for a visit.  This is a perfect starter to an evening out or for a dinner in.  Even though we all like to eat healthy, I think my guests are secretly happy when the appetizer is a little decadent.  For me its a sorry, not sorry kind of thing.  A secret hooray when the fare’s a bit of a guilty indulgence.

Flatbread With Blue Cheese and Sage

The dough is the easiest thing you’ll ever make.  It spreads easily by hand, no flour or rolling pin required.  It looks great and I mean, you can make it look perfect without any effort.  That’s my kinda dough, ya know?  Your imagination will go wild with all the variations you’ll come up with.  If you like to make pizza, but hate to deal with yeast and waiting, this is a great option, just omit the blue cheese and top away with any of your favorites.  Give it a try.  This is how I make it!

In a large bowl, add flour and baking powder and mix with a fork.  Create a well in the bottom of the bowl and add 1 cup sour cream or 1 cup plain  Greek yogurt, 2 beaten eggs and 3 tablespoon chopped, fresh sage, some salt and pepper.  Stir the mixture until fully combined.

Knead the dough into a ball and set onto a lightly oiled baking tray.  Roll the dough out to a round, about 1/2 inch thick.  It’s so easy to work with!

Bake at 350Ā° for about 20 minutes. Remove and top with crumbled blue cheese.  Return to the oven and cook about 10 minutes longer, until the top is browning and the cheese is melted.  Cut into pieces and serve with your favorite Adult-Beverage!  Cheers!
