Sweet and Tart It’s L’Orange

This is absolutely, without a doubt, my new favorite cocktail, it’s a Meyer Lemon Martini.  And believe me, that’s saying something.  It’s made with Meyer lemons.  I really had never been a big fan of Meyer lemons 🍋before this heavenly concoction.  If you’re not familiar with this particular citrus variety, it’s a cross between a lemon 🍋and an orange🍊. It’s a bit sweeter than a lemon, and a lot more tart than an orange.  This is one of those dangerous drinks that tastes too good to leave at just one🍸🍸.   Especially when it’s served icy cold and so outrageously refreshing!  This is the perfect, summer 🏖cocktail, a Meyer Lemon Martini!🍸

Citrus for Meyer Lemon Martini, it's always a Meyer Lemon

We have a very prolific Meyer lemon tree 🌳now if I only had a vodka tree…….Anyway you squeeze it, this is lovely mix of lemon, orange and vodka.  This is seriously the most refreshing, chill, cocktail.  Here’s how to make a Meyer Lemon Martini 🍸 for yourself!

The Recipe For Success!

Onto a small plate, add about 1/4 cup sugar and zest of 1 Meyer lemon and mix it well.  Put your martini glass in the freezer.  In a shaker, filled half way with ice, add 2 ounces vodka, 1 1/2 ounce freshly squeezed Meyer lemon juice, 1 ounce Grand Marnier, Cointreau or Triple Sec.  Shake for 1 minute.  Take your glass out of the freezer and circle the rim with a lemon wedge.  Rim the glass in the sugar mixture.   Add one sugar cube to the bottom of your glass.  Pour cocktail over cube and into the glass.  Garnish with a lemon twist, and Bob’s your uncle.
