The Sophisticated Zombie Martini

The Professor

The professor was a quiet man.  He led a quiet life.  Most of his days and evenings were spent at the university where he was a tenured professor of anthropology.  Sadly, the lonely professor never left his home unless it was to go to the university to teach.  He was terribly shy and deathly afraid of meeting new people.

Each dreary day, after day, after day, the professor ate his breakfast at home and walked to his office nearby.  When he returned home at night, he usually heated a frozen dinner in his microwave oven.    Nearly every night, he ate his dinner in front of the television where he watched cable news or reruns of “Columbo” or “Matlock” or “Murder She Wrote”, his only vice, 70’s crime mysteries.  Sadly, he always watched them alone.

The Stormy Night (Not to be confused with a “Dark and Stormy”, that’s a completely different cocktail!)

On this night, a storm was raging.  The wind 💨was billowing, and the relentless rain flooded the streets.  The studious professor found himself at work, still trying to review the last of the term papers completed by his students.

Suddenly, a loud knock at the door.  “Who is it?” he asked.  No answer.  “Who is it?” he asked again, timidly.  Faintly he heard a mumbled response.  “Well, I will just ignore it,” he thought.  Once again, and louder, the knock was heard.   Afraid, he stood up and slowly approached the door.  “Yes, well, who is that at my door?” he pleaded.  The only response was a scratching noise.  A clawing, scratching sound, like fingernails scraping a chalkboard.

The professor cautiously opened the door.  Before him, was a woman.   He faintly recognized her.  Why, yes, of course.  He knew her.  She was also a professor.   Her office was just down the hall from his own.   She was the professor of archaeology.  He’d seen her hundreds of times.   What on earth was she doing here?  He’d always admired her from a safe distance.  He’d never dared try to talk to her.  Now, before him, in this light,  she looked different, a little pale and a little frightening, but still, he thought, hauntingly, breathtaking.

The First Bite Is A Doozy

Suddenly, without saying a word, she grabbed him!  Her razor-sharp teeth tearing through the skin of his neck, she drew an enormous chunk of his flesh into her mouth and swallowed it!  Blood gushed out of the gaping wound.  Dizzy, the professor fell to his knees.  He passed out cold onto the tile floor of the staff wing hallway.

When he awoke, he felt differently.   Alive and unafraid he grabbed the bewitching archaeologist and kissed her madly.  He’d never felt this way before, alive!  He realized they were both the same now, both un-dead.  He knew now, that he was a zombie, just like her.

And They Un-Lived Happily Ever After………🕸

Now the two professors gloriously “live” their un-dead lives together.  No longer afraid to enjoy each day with abandon, they’ve found an un-dead sense of adventure and wonder in each other.  They’d never been so happy in their previous living bodies.  She an adventurous un-dead archaeologist and he a newly un-dead anthropologist are perfect, together.

Each night after a day of hunting fresh flesh, they always finish with a perfect Blue Zombie Martini with 3 Spanish Olives………….and a little finger food too.

A perfect night-cap to enjoy together.
