All By Mai Tai Self – A Variety Of Cocktail Recipes For The New Socially Separated Social Hour, Volume 1

Happy Hour For Dummies Social Distancing

This last Saturday night, we had the greatest time not being together.  We had a little group for happy hour, it was so much fun.  We kept 6 feet apart and had a lovely time.  Ours was BYOB, so everyone got to enjoy their favorite adult beverages, made exactly to order.  It was especially funny when another neighbor happened by while walking his dog, we were commended on our responsible distancing and drinking – certainly no driving was involved.  I learned that we weren’t alone, we were not the only group he’d passed that night.  Groups of friends and neighbors got together in driveways and on street corners, all perfectly socially distanced, yet still connecting.  In these strange days, let’s make the best of it and come together, even if it’s 6 feet apart, by phone or by face-time.  Whatever it takes, try to make the most of this very, very strange time.  All By Mai Tai Self – The New Happy Hour.

Call your friends and plan your own “All By Mai Tai Self” party.  You can serve a Quarantini (you’ve heard this one, right?  It’s just a regular martini, but you drink it yourself, alone in your house).  My version of the Quarentini is made in your home, but you drink it in the driveway with your friends all well spaced apart!  Here’s a few of my favorite easy to make at home cocktails.  Give one a try this weekend.

So, because I have no special talents, the best thing I can think of to do with my own “special” capabilities is to share cocktail recipes you can easily make from home.   I’m not a nurse or a first responder.  I have no great supply of toilet paper to distribute.  I’m not a particularly nurturing character either.  I will just keep sharing cocktail recipes until such time as we are all allowed to move about without constraints.  It’s all I can do to help my fellow earthlings.  You’re welcome.  Stay well and this too shall pass. XOXO (like, air hug and kiss) Karen
